Northeast baseball opens postseason play Wednesday

NORFOLK, NE – The Northeast Community College baseball team will open postseason play in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Region XI Tournament this week at Ashford University Field in Clinton, IA.

Southeastern Community College (45-11 overall, 23-5 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC)) is the #1 seed. Assignments in the eight team field are based on ICCAC standings. 

The #7 Northeast Hawks (17-36-1 overall, 6-22 in the ICCAC) will face #8 Iowa Lakes Community College (17-33 overall, 5-23 in the ICCAC) in the first game of the tournament on Wednesday, May 9, at 6 p.m. The winner will face #2 North Iowa Area Community College (34-18-1 overall, 20-7-1 in the ICCAC) in game four on Thursday, May 10, at
6 p.m.

The winner of game four game will play the winner of #3 Kirkwood Community College (36-14-1 overall, 18-7-1 ICCAC) and #6 Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) (24-26 overall, 10-16 ICCAC) on Friday at 3 p.m., while the loser of game four will face the loser of the Kirkwood-DMACC game on Friday at 6 p.m.

Games in the Region XI Tournament will be played through Sunday, and on Monday, if necessary, to crown the Region XI Champion.
