Hawks baseball splits doubleheader with Ellsworth

NORFOLK, NE - The Northeast Community College baseball team split a conference doubleheader with Ellsworth Community College here yesterday. The Hawks came up short in the first game, 12-11, and won the second, 17-7.

In game one, Donovan Wright was 1-5 with a grand slam home run and four RBIs. Drew Smith went 2-3 with a home run and three RBIs; Tanner Hunt, 1-3 with a home run and one RBI; Christian Dumont, 2-3 with a double and three runs. Dylan Wright took the loss.

In the Hawks’ game two victory, Brennen Bales was 3-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Jarod Morris (2-3) collected a home run, triple and five RBIs; Cale Hlavac, 2-2 with two RBIs and one run; Kaden Hendrix, 2-3 with two doubles and three runs. Alex Fetters had the win.

Northeast (14-21-1 overall, 4-8 in conference) will face Mount Marty College JV at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk today at 4:30 p.m.
