Hawks baseball sweeps Ellsworth, 8-4 and 10-4

NORFOLK, NE - The Northeast Community College baseball team picked up two conference wins here today, defeating Ellsworth Community College 8-4 in the first game and 10-4 in the second.

In the Hawks' first win, Christian Dumont was 4-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored. Drew Smith went 2-2 and picked up two doubles, two RBIs and one run scored. Kaden Hendrix was 2-3 with one run; Brennen Bales, 2-4 with a home run, three RBIs and one run scored; Tanner Hunt, 1-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored.

Dylan Wright pitched a complete game and had the win, allowing four hits and striking out three batters.

In game two, Smith went 2-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Bales finished 1-5 with a home run and two RBIs; Cale Hlavac, 3-4 with two doubles and two RBIs; Hunt, 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs; Bryce Walker, 2-4 with a double.

The second doubleheader in the Northeast-Ellsworth series, originally scheduled for Saturday in Wayne, has had a change in date and location. The Hawks will now face the Panthers on Tuesday, April 10, at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk. The doubleheader is set to start at 1 p.m.
