Northeast golf finishes 8th at Doane University Spring Invite

CRETE, NE - The Northeast Community College golf team wrapped up the two-day Doane University Spring Invite at College Heights golf club here today. The Hawks took 8th place with a two-day team total of 674 (+102).

Coach Kurt Pytleski said his team played well in tough conditions.

"The winds were between 20 and 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. With temperatures in the low 40's, we were playing with wind chills that were in the teens. The guys played pretty well despite the weather."

Morningside University took first in the tournament with a two-day team total of 596 (+24). Doane University finished second at 607 (+35), while Dordt College took third with 635 (+63).

Roger Sack of Doane claimed medalist honors, firing a 142 (-1) over the two days.

For Northeast, Brook Klinetobe shot a two-day total of 162 (+19) to tie for 22nd. Andrew Schnoor was two strokes back, while Mason Stubbs finished at 169 (+26); Capp Bengston, 179 (+36); and Dylan Lilienthal, 186 (+43).

The Hawks are set to compete in the Region XI Spring Preview on Friday, April 13, at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora, IA.
