Northeast splits doubleheader with NIACC

NORFOLK, NE - The Northeast Community College baseball team split a doubleheader with North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) here Friday. The Hawks won the first game, 11-1, and fell to the Trojans in the nightcap, 14-3.

In game one, Donovan Warren (2-3) had a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Christian Dumont (2-2) tallied a home run, one RBI and three runs scored; Drew Smith (2-4), a home run, double and three RBIs; Cale Hlavac (2-3), two doubles and one RBI. Dylan Wright earned the win in a complete six-inning game with one earned run and six strikeouts.

In the game two loss, Drew Smith was 2-3 with one run scored. Caleb Hartmann finished 1-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Hlavac took the loss.

The Hawks' (10-18-1) second doubleheader against NIACC has been postponed. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the games will now be played Monday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk. The first game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
