Baylor named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

AMES, IA – Northeast Community College’s Mykala Baylor has been named Division I Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

A week after the Hawks took down top-seed Iowa Western in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship game, Baylor was the leader on the floor for Northeast in the NJCAA District K Championship against #4 Moberly Area (MO) Community College. In 35 minutes, she was the most effective player for the Hawks, scoring 14 points, grabbing four rebounds and blocking two shots.

Northeast fell to the Greyhounds 66-53, finishing the season with a record of 25-6.

This is the second conference honor for Baylor this season. She was named to the ICCAC All-Region First Team.

Baylor, a 6’ 2” forward from South Bend, IN, led the Hawks in scoring for the season with 11.7 points per game and also led the team in rebounding with 8.2 rebounds per game. Her defense was key for Northeast as well, as she averaged 1.3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game.
