“It’s tough to win games when we give up eight earned runs and 13 earned runs, respectively,” said Iris Woodhead, Northeast coach. “Our offense still isn’t complete 1-9, but we are continuing to make progress and finding ways to score runs. Our pitching staff needs to be more focused and mentally tough to give our offense a chance. We will look to build some confidence tomorrow in our next games.”
In the first game, Northeast’s Tera Paczosa was 2-4 with an RBI while Rosario Garcia hit 2-3 with a run. Chandler Hehnke (2-5) took the loss.
In the nightcap, Emily Sherstone led the Hawks in batting 1-2 with two runs, three RBIs, a stolen base and two walks. Savannah Robertson finished 2-4 with two RBIs. Moriah Payton (3-3) was the losing pitcher.
Northeast (5-9) will host the Briar Cliff University JV on Thursday, March 15, at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk. Game times are 3 and 5 p.m.
