Northeast comes up short in weekend series at Southeast

BEATRICE, NE – The Northeast Community College baseball team played some competitive ball over the weekend, but came up short against Southeast Community College in two doubleheaders.

The Storm took the first game over the Hawks 3-2. Donavan Warren went 1-2 and scored and run and two RBIs for Northeast, while Cale Hlavac went 2-3 and scored a run. Alex Fetters (1-1) took the loss for the Hawks.

In the second game, Southeast won 13-11. Warren was 2-5 and scored two runs and two RBIs. Drew Smith batted 3-6 in scoring a run and two RBIs, Caleb Hartmann was 3-4 with two runs and Jarod Morris finished 3-4 with a run and an RBI. Jackson Tingwald (0-2) was the losing pitcher.

The Storm took games three and four, 7-2 and 19-11.

Northeast (6-11) will host its home opener on Wednesday as it takes on McCook Community College at Veterans Memorial Field beginning at 2 p.m.
