In Sunday’s first game, the Blue Devils defeated the Hawks 5-4. Christian Dumont, who hit 3-3 and picked up half of Northeast’s hits in the game, scored a run and brought in a run as well. Brennen Bales (1-1) took the loss.
In the day’s second game, Northeast struggled at the plate as Kansas City outhit the visitors 15-2. Bryce Walker scored the lone run for the Hawks. Cale Hlavac (0-3) was the losing pitcher.
Things were better in Monday’s first game, as Northeast defeated the Blue Devils 7-6 on 10 hits. Tanner Hunt was perfect in his three plate appearances, scoring two runs. Walker, Drew Smith and Donavan Warren had two hits each. Justin Frey (1-0) picked up his first win of the season while Bales earned the save.
Northeast dropped the last game of the series, 11-1 as the Blue Devils outhit the Hawks 13-4. Bales was 2-2 and picked up a RBI. Joe Jaramillo (0-2) took the loss.
The Hawks (4-7) will next be in action on Wednesday, March 7, in McCook for two single games. They will take on St. Clair County Community College (MI) at 2 p.m., followed by a 4:30 p.m. game against McCook Community College.
