Northeast men to face Marshalltown in Region XI play-in game

NORFOLK, NE – Approximately 72 hours after it closes out the regular season, the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team will face the same opponent in postseason tournament play.

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) has announced the bracket for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region XI Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Hawks, the #5 seed, will face #4 Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, IA on Monday, February 26, at 7 p.m., in a first round play-in game.

The winner of Monday’s game advances to the semifinals of Region XI to play #1 Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA, on Wednesday, February 28. The Region XI championship game will be held Saturday, March 3, at the highest seeded remaining team’s home site. The winner of Region XI will face the winner of Region XIII on Thursday, March 8, in the District 11 Championship, with the winner advancing to play in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, March 19-24 in Hutchinson, KS.  

Northeast and Marshalltown will face each other in their final regular season game on Friday, February 23, in the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk at 7 p.m. The women’s game will be played at 5 p.m. Both games have been moved up one day due to impending winter weather conditions.
