Smith, a freshman right fielder from Elkhorn, remained hot early this season during a four-game series against Cloud County Community College this past weekend.
The Hawks’ scored 26 runs in the four games thanks in large part to Smith’s bat. He went six for 11 with three of his hit going over the fence. Smith drove in seven runs and scored seven runs as well in the series.
On the year he is batting .545 with three homers and 12 RBIs.
The Hawks head back to Kansas for another series this weekend. Northeast will face Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday and Sunday. Doubleheaders begin at 12 p.m. each day.
