Stanton standout to play volleyball at Northeast

NORFOLK, NE – Hannah Heppner, a standout volleyball player at Stanton High School, has a signed a letter of intent to play for Northeast Community College this fall.

During her career with the Mustangs, Heppner recorded 531 kills, .323 hitting percentage, 76 blocks, 90 block assists, 11 assists and 74 digs.

“Hannah is going to be a great addition to the 2018-19 squad. I believe she will bring a lot of balance to the team and will be a leader by working hard and taking care of business,” said Amanda Schultze, Northeast head volleyball coach. “From watching her and her team compete the last couple of years, she has consistently improved each season and we look for her to continue that here.”

Stanton Coach Tracy Kuester-Burtwistle, said as team captain this past season, Heppner demonstrated her leadership skills on and off the court. 

“Hannah continued to grow in confidence in her blocking skills and attacking the ball this season. She was also a great contributor; and when we needed something to happen, we could count on her. Hannah is a team member that gives our team balance with her sense of humor and strong work ethic.

Heppner earned a number of honors over the past two years. During her senior season, she was named to the East Husker Conference Second Team; Norfolk Daily News Class C All Area Second Team; Lincoln Journal Star Class C2 Honorable Mention Team; Nebraska Prep Volleyball Class C2 Third Team; and Omaha World Herald Class C2 Honorable Mention Team.

In 2016, Heppner was named to the East Husker Conference Third Team; Omaha World Herald Class C2 All -Tournament Team; Lincoln Star Journal Class C2 All-Tournament Team; Nebraska Prep Volleyball Class C2 State Tournament Star; Lincoln Star Journal Class C2 All-Tournament Team; Norfolk Daily News Class C All Area Third Team; Lincoln Journal Star Class C2 Honorable Mention Team; Nebraska Prep Volleyball Class C2 Honorable Mention Team; Omaha World Herald Class C2 Honorable Mention Team; and the Nebraska Associated Press All State Class C2 Honorable Mention Team.

Heppner joins Julia Eskens, of Wynot, Elley Beaver of Columbus, MaKayla Davidson, of Alliance, Caitlin Kumm, of Osmond, Caitlin Orton, of Bassett, and Megan Wehrbein, of Lewiston, as 2018 Northeast volleyball signees.
