Hawks unable to overcome Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Despite Steve Wooten's 41 points, the Northeast Community College men's basketball team was unable to overcome Iowa Western Community College here Saturday. The Hawks fell to the Reivers, 88-91.

Northeast dictated the tempo early, jumping to a nine-point lead early in the first half before trailing by three going into halftime. After the half, the Hawks came out quickly again to take the lead but were unable to capitalize on key possessions.

Steve Wooten led Northeast with 41 points, seven boards and two assists. Melkisedek Moreaux chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jeremiah Codden added 12 points and two rebounds, while Allen Anderson had ten points and three assists on the night.

The Hawks (13-11) will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Creston, IA, to face Southwestern Community College at 7 p.m.
