Women's basketball downs Little Priest, 84-47

NORFOLK, NE - All twelve players on the Northeast Community College women's basketball team saw first-half play in the Hawks' victory over Little Priest Tribal College here tonight. Final score was 84-47.

Northeast hit seven of 13 three-pointers in the first half and also forced turnovers to open the game up. The Hawks led 50-24 at the half.

"Our team is up and down with how many points we score, and tonight we had a good-scoring first half," said Matt Svehla, Hawks coach. "It is always helpful when the ball goes in the basket. It was good that all twelve of our players had already seen the floor in the first half, and we were able to put a lot of different combinations on the floor. We finished the game with a good scoring balance."

Four Hawk players scored in the double figures. Judit Valls led with 14 points, while Kori Fischer and Irene Sanz put up 13 each, and Jade Blackburn, 11. Valls led rebounds with six. Sierra Bell and Fischer chipped in four assists each.

Northeast (19-2) will host Central Community College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. The men's game will follow at 8 p.m.
