Women's basketball returns from break, defeats Little Priest

NORFOLK, NE - The Northeast Community College women's basketball team picked up a win against Little Priest Tribal College here tonight in their first game after winter break. Final score was 71-37.

"This was our first game since December 14, and we were a bit rough," said Matt Svehla, Hawks coach. "We missed a lot of easy shots early in the game, and we weren't playing with much energy."

Northeast led 18-16 after the first quarter and improved in the second, outscoring the Warriors 24-5.

"We finally got some effective pressure going, and we picked the tempo up," Svehla said. "Kori Fischer's first half play was really helpful. She brought good energy off the bench."

Fischer scored all of her 14 points in the first half. Sierra Bell finished with 14 points total. Mykala Baylor led rebounds with 11.

Northeast (15-1) is next scheduled to host Hastings College JV tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus.
