NORFOLK, Neb. – Over 5,000 students are enrolled at Northeast Community College this fall, including 988 first-time freshmen and more than 2,300 early college students, according to the college's Fall 2026 tenth-day enrollment report. The total headcount of 5,058 students reflects Northeast's continued commitment to providing affordable, accessible educational opportunities across Northeast Nebraska.
As families continue to evaluate the cost of higher education, Northeast remains focused on helping students pursue their educational goals without taking on excessive financial burden. Today, 91% of first-time, full-time degree-seeking students receive financial aid, making a college education attainable for students from a wide range of backgrounds.
More than half of Northeast students are also the first in their families to attend college. Approximately 53% of students identify as first-generation, underscoring the college's role in creating opportunities for learners who are forging a new path for themselves and future generations.
"We know students and families are looking for a college that is both affordable and career-focused," said Amanda Nipp vice president of student services at Northeast. "Northeast provides a high-quality education, personalized support and strong outcomes, all at a cost that helps students build a future without being burdened by excessive debt. We are proud that so many students continue to choose Northeast as their pathway to opportunity."
The enrollment report also highlights the continued growth of the college's early college program. With 2,325 students enrolled this fall, thousands of area high school students are earning college credit while completing their high school education, helping them save time and money on a degree or credential.

The college continues to see strong demand from students seeking workforce training and transfer opportunities that lead to meaningful outcomes. Through partnerships with schools, employers, and communities throughout its 20-county service area, Northeast provides pathways that help students enter high-demand careers, continue their education and contribute to the economic vitality of the region.
The enrollment figures support the goals outlined in Northeast's strategic plan, Rise Together, which focuses on student success, workforce development, innovation and community engagement. By removing barriers to education and creating opportunities for learners of all backgrounds, Northeast continues to transform lives and strengthen communities across Northeast Nebraska.
