Northeast visiting writer's series features Lydia Kang

Northeast Community College will welcome Lydia Kang as part of its Visiting Writers Series on Wednesday, April 29.

Kang will be featured during a public event from 4 to 5 p.m. at Union 73, Coffee Shop on Northeast’s Norfolk campus. The event is free and open to students, employees, and community members.

An associate professor of internal medicine, Kang is an award-winning and bestselling author of adult fiction, young adult fiction, and science nonfiction. Her works include Opium and Absinthe; Star Wars: Cataclysm; and Nebraska Book Award–winning titles The November Girl and Patient Zero. Her nonfiction writing includes Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything, an NPR Science Friday Best Book.

Kang is the author of the recently released Pseudoscience: An Amusing History of Crackpot Ideas and Why We Love Them (Workman Publishing) and K‑Jane (Quill Tree Books/HarperCollins), named a Kirkus Best Book of 2025.

Northeast’s Visiting Writers Series brings contemporary writers to campus to share their work and engage in conversation with audiences in an informal setting. The series supports creative expression, critical thinking, and engagement with literature across disciplines.
