The cast and production team for Constellations gather at Northeast

Northeast Community College Theatre will present Constellations by British playwright Nick Payne, a critically acclaimed two‑person play that blends love and science to examine how a single relationship can unfold in countless ways. Performances run April 23–25 at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center Theatre on Northeast’s Norfolk campus. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Directed by theatre instructor Adam Peterson, Constellations follows Marianne, a physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, as their lives intersect across multiple possible realities. Drawing on ideas from quantum physics and parallel universes, the play explores free will, intimacy, and how small moments can dramatically alter the course of a life.

The production is student-led across every area of production. Featuring two student performers: Aiden Doughty as Roland and Tanesha King as Marianne. Supporting the performance is a fully student‑led production team, including Gabby Vaughn, stage manager; Amanda Olmstead, costume designer and wardrobe mistress; Charlene Bock, scenic designer and property master; Brandon Pruden, sound designer and sound board operator; Sophie Ippensen, lighting designer and assistant director; and Rae Wolfe, lighting designer, master electrician, and light board operator.

Constellations was selected after Northeast theatre students encountered the script at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Regional Conference. The production has since been entered for KCACTF adjudication, placing Northeast among a competitive field where only a small number of productions advance to be presented at the regional level.
