Northeast Community College continues to deepen its presence in the Siouxland region through expanded community engagement and workforce connections, highlighted by the work of its South Sioux City based liaison, Brenda Sale.
Sale brings more than 24 years of experience working in the South Sioux City community, most recently as an educator with the SNAP-Ed program at the University of Nebraska. Her longstanding relationships and deep understanding of the community have shaped her commitment to serving local residents, businesses, and organizations.
“I feel deeply connected to the community of South Sioux City and the people we serve,” Sale said. “In my previous work, I invested a lot of time and effort into facilitating engagement and collaboration, particularly through projects focused on strengthening the local food system. Those connections are incredibly valuable in my role at Northeast.”
Since beginning her position in October, Sale has focused on reintroducing herself to community leaders, businesses, and chamber organizations while sharing the wide range of training, education, and partnership opportunities available through Northeast. Her early efforts have centered on listening, relationship-building, and ensuring businesses understand how the college can support their workforce needs.
“My goal right now is to connect with businesses and let them know that I am here to serve as a bridge,” Sale said. “Whether it’s training, education, or new opportunities, I want to help connect them to everything Northeast has to offer.”
Sale’s office is located at the Northeast Extended Campus in South Sioux City, reinforcing the college’s commitment to being accessible and present in the community.
She also emphasized the importance of Northeast’s regional liaison model, which assigns liaisons to smaller geographic areas across the service region.
“This approach creates better opportunities to build strong relationships with local businesses,” Sale said. “Having someone dedicated to making connections and establishing partnerships leads to more effective workforce programs and meaningful results.”
