The District FFA competition at Northeast Community College in Norfolk operated efficiently thanks to the coordinated efforts of faculty, staff, students and community volunteers.
Northeast’s facilities provided ample space for contests, student movement, and bus parking, offering a convenient layout for participants competing in multiple events on Tuesday, February 24.
The Agricultural Department — along with instructors, staff, and student volunteers —leveraged extensive experience to manage the events effectively. Many had previously assisted with FFA competitions or participated in FFA themselves.
The competition hosted approximately 1,600 high school students from FFA Districts 3, 4, and 10, with many events serving as qualifiers for the state contest at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln this spring. Participating chapters included:
- District 3: Arlington, Bancroft-Rosalie, Blair, Logan View, Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Mead, North Bend, Oakland-Craig, Omaha Bryan, Pender, Ralston, Scribner-Snyder, Tekamah-Herman, Wayne, West Point, Winside, Wisner-Pilger.
- District 4: Allen Consolidated Schools, Battle Creek, Bloomfield, Creighton, Crofton, Emerson-Hubbard, Hartington-Newcastle, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lutheran High Northeast, Madison, Norfolk, Osmond, Pierce, Plainview, Randolph, Stanton, Summerland, Verdigre, Wynot.
- District 10: Ainsworth, Boyd County, Burwell, Chambers, Elgin, Elkhorn Valley, Keya Paha, Loup County, Nebraska Agriculture Academy, Neligh-Oakdale, O'Neill, Ord, Rock County, Sargent, Stuart, West Holt, Wheeler Central.
Northeast has hosted district FFA contests for more than 40 years, engaging the entire college to support an event of this scale. Attendance this year was among the highest recorded, nearing historic participation levels. The Lifelong Learning Center, College Welcome Center, Ag/Allied Health building, Cox Activities Center, and Chuck Pohlman Ag Complex were utilized to accommodate the event.
