Mid-Winter Concert

The Northeast Community College Music Department will present its annual mid-winter concert on Sunday, February 15

Both the Concert Choir and Concert Band will perform in the Life Long Learning center and the concert will start promptly at 2 p.m.

The Concert Choir, under the direction of Margaret Schultz, will be performing a varied program that will include: a spiritual, a Swedish folk song, a 19th century English poem, and a song written during Covid that emphasizes light overcoming the darkness.

“The variety of the program offers an opportunity for students and attendees to musically transport themselves to different countries and cultures,” Shultz said. “There is a rich collection of ideas and reflections. For the students, it also presented some new vocabulary words like grist and gambrel.”

The College/Community band’s program will highlight a composition that is dedicated to soldiers who served in Korea and Vietnam. Other pieces on the program will include a fanfare and classic march.

“I’m really excited to have group perform Inchon,” said Band Director Kevin McLouth. “I heard it years ago and told myself I wanted to do that when I had a band good enough to perform it.”
