Tina Mazuch

Tina Mazuch has been appointed a Fellow of the American Health Information Management Association (FAHIMA), one of the organization’s highest professional honors.

The director of the Health Information Management Systems program at Northeast Community College will be formally recognized at the AHIMA Conference, held October 4–6 in San Antonio, Texas. This distinction reflects her sustained leadership, professional contributions, and dedication to the health information field.

Mazuch expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting her focus has always been on contributing meaningfully to her profession rather than seeking recognition.

Jeff Hoffman, dean of Health and Public Health Services at Northeast, praised Mazuch’s commitment and impact.

“This is a great honor and very well deserved,” Hoffman said.

FAHIMA designation requires at least 10 years of professional experience, a master’s degree, and demonstrated professional achievement.

Mazuch has 20 years in the field. Her extensive service includes leadership roles within AHIMA and the Nebraska Health Information Management Association, as well as committee work at the state and national levels.

At Northeast, Mazuch serves as advisor to the HIM Club and co-advisor for the HOSA Chapter. She is also an AHIMA-approved Revenue Cycle trainer and a Gallup/CliftonStrengths coach. Her scholarly and professional work includes presentations on healthcare records, coding, and billing.

Mazuch describes health information management as a “hidden gem,” highlighting its growing workforce demand and diverse career opportunities, including privacy, data analytics, and information governance. Her interest in the field began through job shadowing, allowing her to support patient care in a critical behind-the-scenes role.

“I come to work each day with the goal of doing my job to the best of my ability. I don’t look for special recognition or extra attention for what I do. While it always feels good to be appreciated, I don’t need anything beyond knowing that I’m contributing and doing my part,” Mazuch said.

Mazuch and her husband, Mark, have two children, Jackson and Taylor, both of whom attend Northeast.
