Agnes Kills Monsters

A drama/comedy, “She Kills Monsters,” is opening the 2025-26 Northeast/Norfolk Community College Theatre season.

Performances began Thursday evening and continues Friday and Saturday, October 10-11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 12, at 1:30 p.m. All shows are at the Cox Activities Center Theatre.

Director Adam Peterson said it took a team effort to put this show together, including getting the set ready for monsters and battles.

“The challenge to this production is they must fight a lot of monsters on the stage. So, the big question is, ‘How do we do the monsters?’ Since the play is set in the 1990s, we settled on pixilated, two-dimensional monsters that look like they jumped out of a video game.”

Peterson designed the monsters, then handed them off to crews who traced them and painted them. That painting included hundreds of little squares to give the characters the pixilated look. Northeast construction students built the set.

“There was a lot of paint with this production,” Peterson said. “A lot of students were involved at all hours, working.”

There is a warning that the play does contain some profanity and crude humor.

Peterson pointed out that most people involved in the production – whether cast members or behind the scenes -- are Northeast alumni or currently working for the college or attending as students.

Members of the cast are Kaylie Beach, Sophie Ippensen, Amanda Olmstead, Misty Eckmann, Charlie Starkel, Marie Kubo, Josia Stonehocker, Aiden Doughty, Wesley Phelps, Jenny Peterson, Haley Lidgett, Sierra Steinhauser, Ashley Brown, Levi Phelps, Taryn Wiegand and Charlene Bock.
