Northeast Community College is pleased to announce the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Maclay building.
The celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 15, with a ribbon cutting at 4:45 p.m. and tours of the building, starting at 5:15 p.m.
A committee has been meeting regularly to make plans for the event, which will include Business After Hours with the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce. The festivities will take place on the outdoor patio behind Maclay, next to the lower-level entrance of Union 73.
Light hors d oeuvres/refreshments will be provided. The Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours will begin at 6 p.m. Activities are expected to conclude around 7 p.m.
The public may park in the Maclay parking lot to the south of the Maclay building, in the Cox Activities Center lot, or in the lot west of Union 73. There will be signs directing people to the ribbon cutting location.
The Hawk Shop in Union 73 will be open, with a discount of 15% off purchases for those attending the event. Jazzy, the lovable Northeast mascot, also will be attending events.
The original Maclay Building opened in 1970. Just like its predecessor, the one level structure is in the heart of campus – only now it is equipped to handle modern technology and conveniences.
