The director of the Northeast Community College Extended Campus in South Sioux City is among a selected group of Nebraska leaders chosen for a class to help them shape the future of the state.
Katie Towler, director of the Northeast Extended Campus in South Sioux City, was chosen to be one of the members of Leadership Nebraska Class XVII — a diverse group of professionals selected from across the state to participate in its premier leadership development program.
Leadership Nebraska, presented by Medica, was launched in 2006 with the goal of connecting emerging and established leaders, deepening their understanding of the state’s most pressing issues, and preparing them to make a broader impact in their communities and industries.
Over a seven-month period, participants will take part in immersive sessions covering a range of topics including workforce and education, economic development, agriculture, health care, natural resources, and government policy. The program combines hands-on learning with meaningful dialogue, giving participants a deeper understanding of Nebraska and the tools to lead with purpose.
“Being new to Nebraska, I am looking forward to exploring the state, learning about and from business and industry leaders in the state, and networking with other professionals,” Towler said.
“I am eager to learn more about the challenges Nebraskans are facing and plan to use that knowledge to inform my work with Northeast in the South Sioux City region. This opportunity comes at a time when we are rethinking how we serve our community, and I am excited to see how my experience with Leadership Nebraska can make us better,” she said.
Todd Bingham, president of the Nebraska Chamber, said this year’s class reflects the strength, diversity, and dedication of Nebraska’s leaders.
“These individuals are already making a difference in their communities, and Leadership Nebraska will amplify their ability to influence real change across the state,” Bingham said. “It’s exciting to see how this experience will shape their journeys and the impact they’ll have.”
Upon completing the program, participants will join an alumni network of more than 400 leaders committed to continued growth, collaboration, and service to Nebraska.
Others chosen for the statewide program from Northeast Nebraska are Lindsay Nelson, City of Creighton; and Lisa Jones of Daycos in Norfolk.
