Thanks to the generosity of a Norfolk restaurant and its patrons, students at Northeast Community College will get some extra assistance in the coming year.
Tracy Kruse, vice president of Development and External Affairs and executive director of the Northeast Community College Foundation, announced this week that Big Red Restaurant and Sports Bar donated $1,009 to support student success through a special event on May 15 as part of the Norfolk Area Big Give. The contribution represented a portion of all food purchased at Big Red that day.
“This donation will be used to enhance student success initiatives,” Kruse said, “including scholarships, emergency funds, and other essential resources. The Northeast Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Big Red Restaurant and Sports Bar for their commitment to student success for the second year in a row.”
Big Red Manager Miranda Wieneke, a Northeast alumnus said, “Donating to Northeast Community College is always a pleasure. As an alumnus, I look back fondly on my time at Northeast, and it’s great feeling to be able to give back. My staff and I are proud to support the college in any way we can. We always enjoy partnering with Northeast to help students succeed in their educational journey.”
The Northeast Foundation supports and promotes programs and educational opportunities of Northeast Community College throughout the 20-county service area and beyond.
