There is still time to register for summer camps at Northeast Community College’s Extended Campuses.

O'Neill Camps Start in mid-June

Students in O’Neill will have the opportunity to engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education this summer through a series of free camps offered by Northeast Community College. The camps, designed for students in grades 5-12, will feature robotics, programming, and cybersecurity.

LEGO Robotics Camp for grades 5-6 will be held Monday to Wednesday, June 16-18, from 9 a.m. to noon, providing students with an introduction to mechanical design and coding. The VEX EXP Robotics Camp for grades 7-8 will follow from 1 to 4 p.m., focusing on competition-style robotic challenges.

On Thursday to Friday, June 19-20, students in grades 8-12 can attend the Python Arcade: From Basics to Games camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This two-day event introduces students to Python coding and game development, with lunch provided each day.

The Cybersecurity Escape Room Summer Camp is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, from 1 to 4 p.m. and will challenge students to think like cyber defenders using puzzles and interactive missions.

Tech Skills to be Focus in South Sioux City

Northeast Community College is bringing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to South Sioux City this summer with a series of free, interactive summer camps for students in grades 5 through 12. The camps aim to spark interest in high-demand technical careers through engaging hands-on experiences.

From Monday to Wednesday, July 14-16, LEGO Robotics Camp (grades 5-6) will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and VEX EXP Robotics Camp (grades 7-8) from 1 to 4 p.m. Students will design, build, and code functional robots to solve real-world challenges.

The Cybersecurity Escape Room Summer Camp, scheduled for Thursday, June 19, from 1 to 4 p.m., offers students in grades 8-12 an opportunity to explore digital safety and critical thinking in a fun, immersive environment.

An IT-focused camp, Python Arcade: From Basics to Games, will run Thursday and Friday, July 17-18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students in grades 8-12. Participants will learn Python programming, game development, and foundational problem-solving skills.

LEGO Robotics Among West Point Offerings

Northeast Community College will offer free summer camps in West Point designed to introduce students in grades 5 through 12 to robotics, programming, and cybersecurity. The expanded programming aims to promote early interest in technical education and future careers in STEM.

LEGO Robotics Camp for grades 5-6 and VEX EXP Robotics Camp for grades 7-8 will run concurrently from Monday to Wednesday, July 7-9, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. respectively. Students will engage in hands-on robot design and coding exercises.

The Python Arcade: From Basics to Games camp will be held Thursday to Friday, July 10-11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for grades 8-12. This camp introduces Python programming and game design concepts in an accessible, project-based format. Lunch is provided.

A Cybersecurity Escape Room Summer Camp is scheduled for Thursday, July 17, from 1 to 4 p.m., where students in grades 8-12 will test their skills against real-world cyber challenges.
