Scholarships

The following are scholarships awarded by businesses, organizations, high schools, and communities. Each of these scholarships requires a separate application form and deadlines may vary. Click on the link or contact the appropriate contact to each scholarship for deadlines and application information. Scholarship listings are subject to change.

AGC Nebraska Chapter for Freshmen and Sophomores

DEADLINE: Please check application website for deadline.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a graduating high school student, or enrolled, or plan to enroll, in a construction related program at a technical institute
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen, or documented permanent resident of the U.S
  3. Must have a desire to pursue a heavy-highway-utilities construction career
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
  5. Must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.0 “or” demonstrate achievement of competency

AK-SAR-BEN for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be able to demonstrate financial need by submitting a Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) along with the application form
  2. Must be accepted for admission or enrolled at an eligible community college
  3. Must be a United States citizen who is a resident of Nebraska or western Iowa
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
  5. Current high school students must attach a high school transcript

American Chemical Society for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a chemical science program of study, which includes chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, and environmental science
  2. Must be African American, Hispanic, or Native American
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the US
  4. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  5. Current high school students must attach a high school transcript
  6. Must be able to demonstrate financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Qualifications:

Children of Fallen Hero's Scholarship Act for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a Pell-eligible student whose parent or guardian died in the line of duty while performing as a public safety officer
  2. Must be less than 24 years of age

Clark E. DeHaven for Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be planning a career in the food service industry and major in a food service related field of study
  2. Must be enrolled at an institution that is a member of the National Association of Colleges & University Food Services
  3. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program full time, in good standing, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  4. Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen and must attend college in the U.S. or Canada during the scholarship award year
  5. Must submit a transcript from all colleges attended
  6. Scholarship must be used for academic purposes such as tuition, fees, room and board, and/or books

DACA 1st Generation American Scholarship Application

Qualifications:

  1. A student must have an Application for Admissions on file.
  2. Student must be a DACA or 1st generation American.
  3. Must be enrolled at least part time (6 credits).
  4. Must show financial need and be worthy and deserving.

  1. Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in an instrumentation, systems, or automation discipline at an educational institution in their country of residence
  2. Must have completed at least one academic semester or 12 semester hours or its equivalent
  3. Four year degree program applicants must be in their sophomore year or higher of their study or its equivalent at the time of application
  4. Must be full-time students in an educational institution and have at least an overall GPA of 2.5

Nebraska Rod and Custom for Freshman and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in fall semester in any of the Technical and Community Colleges in Nebraska in an automotive program of study
  2. Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average or a “C+) - high school or 1st year tech school

Nebraska Rural Radio Foundation Scholarship

  1. Applicants must be committed to the future of the industry of agriculture and rural communities in Nebraska

The Ford Fund STEM Scholarship

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  2. Must file a FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form)
  3. Must demonstrate unmet financial need as verified by the college or university.
  4. Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident of the United States.
  5. Must be a student of color
  6. Must be enrolled full time.
  7. Must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Electrical Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Industrial Software or Environmental Engineering, Engineering Studies (Process, Quality, or Computer), Systems, Battery, Automation Controls, Safety, Materials, Cyber-Security, Certification Pathways in Data/IT, Automotive Technician and Collision Technician Training, Skilled Trades (Electrical, Machining, CAD, Welding, Tool Operation, Manufacturing Assembling, Production Technician, Robotics and Mechatronics, Urban and Regional Planning, Math and Science- related to IT, Data, Sustainability, Chemistry, Materials Science.

The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation for First-Time Freshmen

Qualifications:

  1. Live in Nebraska and meet in-state residency requirements of the college you plan to attend
  2. Graduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED
  3. Earn at least a 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school (or 77 on a 100-point scale)
  4. Plan to attend any of the Nebraska public colleges
  5. Be a first-time freshman when entering college. Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible
  6. Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend college. Students do not need to be Pell Grant eligible to qualify. Students must have a Student Aid Index (SAI) below $10,000 in order to apply

  1. Community Leaders – 100 scholarships valued at $2,500; targeted to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to their community through leadership and volunteerism
  2. Trades – 75 scholarships valued at $2,500; targeted to students who are entering or enrolled in an energy-related trades program
  3. Indigenous Legacy – 75 scholarships valued at $5,000; targeted to Indigenous students pursuing a full-time, post-secondary program at a registered education institute

Udall Foundation Scholarship for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy or Native health care
  2. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning, and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics
