The Pre-Professional University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Transfer program at Northeast Community College is designed for students who plan to apply to the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Through a unique partnership between Northeast and UNMC, students can complete general education and prerequisite courses at Northeast before transferring seamlessly to UNMC upon acceptance.

This collaboration—offered through the UNMC College of Nursing Northern Division—provides greater access to nursing education for students in the region, particularly those who are place-bound. Students are able to transition seamlessly from associate’s degree coursework to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level nursing coursework in one location on the Northeast campus.

Please note: Admission into the UNMC BSN program is selective and very competitive. A separate application is required for admission to UNMC. Minimum pre-requisite grade point average of 3.0 is required for admission; however, priority admission to the traditional BSN program is 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale. You may contact diana.rizzo@unmc.edu with any admission or application questions. A current CNA certification is also required by UNMC.

Why Students Choose This Program

The program is a cooperative agreement between Northeast Community College and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Students are able to transition seamlessly from associate’s degree coursework to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level nursing coursework in one location on the Northeast campus.

The program offers students a strong academic foundation while staying close to home. With affordable tuition, experienced faculty, and a clear pathway to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, students can begin their nursing journey locally and transfer seamlessly to complete their BSN. Once students have transferred, they can remain on Northeast’s Norfolk campus to complete bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level coursework in Nursing.

Students in the program benefit from a supportive and student-centered learning environment. Small class sizes allow for personalized instruction and one-on-one mentorship from experienced faculty who are committed to student success.
