The Local Substitute Teacher Training at Northeast fulfills the Human Relations Training requirement for substitute teaching in Nebraska. With substitute teachers in high demand across the state, this program offers a direct path to the classroom. By obtaining a local substitute teaching permit through the Nebraska Department of education, you can become a local substitute and teach up to 90 days in any school year within a school district. The local substitute teaching permit is issued through the Nebraska Department of Education and is valid for three years.
Substitute teachers are also required to have 60 credits hours of college coursework. If you have not yet earned 60 semester credit hours of college coursework, apply for admission today. A Northeast advisor will help you identify courses that will meet this requirement. A letter from the superintendent of the school district where the local substitute permit will be assigned and an application are also requirements.
