This certificate prepares students to start their own farm-based enterprise that directly markets products to consumers or to enter employment for a value-added business. Graduates will develop skills and knowledge in business, agriculture or horticulture, and accounting. This certificate can be completed in a single fall semester but, depending on the elective course selected, may require two semesters to complete.
All coursework in the Farm to Market certification is fully applicable to an Agribusiness Associate of Applied Science degree.
Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses
Develop practical skills in entrepreneurship, agricultural marketing, sales, finance, and production management through coursework designed to support farm-based and value-added businesses. Students can also tailor their learning with electives that align with their agricultural interests and career goals.
The programs include a diverse range of courses designed to provide students with both foundational knowledge and specialized skills, including:
- Introduction to Entrepreneurship
- Principles of Ag Selling
- Electives in plant propagation, vegetable gardening, beef feedlot management, swine production, horse care, and cow calf production
