The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses are offered for students desiring to become an entry level EMS provider. Both courses will develop field ready EMS providers with the foundational knowledge and skills to care for patients who are injured due to trauma or suffering from a medical emergency.

Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses

Northeast Community College utilizes two fully stocked ambulances, high-definition mannequins and a Simulation by Immersion Room in the EMS Provider courses it offers. Students participate in live simulations and mock emergency scenarios. Students will get practice on skills they learn in the classroom in controlled but realistic settings. These immersive experiences prepare students to stay calm under pressure and provide lifesaving care with skill and confidence.

Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician

After completing coursework, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT certification exam and apply for a state EMT license.

After obtaining EMT certification, students can enroll in the Paramedic program to further their career.
