Student Built Homes
Auctioned off each spring
Next auction will be held June 1, 2024 | Norfolk Campus
Open House events will be held May 21 and 23 for the community to tour the homes.
You can earn your Associate of Applied Science degree in just two years and you'll be ready to enter the construction field.
Northeast’s Building Construction program will give you a basic knowledge of carpentry and related fields. By learning classroom theory and applying skills with on-the-job construction projects, you’ll become familiar with tools of the trade, subcontracting, estimating, record keeping, and other building trade competencies. As a freshman you'll design and frame a single-family home as a class project. When you become a sophomore, you'll continue finishing work on the house. Students will also gain experience working on Habitat for Humanity homes, building custom cabinetry, and working on projects off-campus within the Norfolk area.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday, allowing for a three-day weekend.
If you would like to transfer your credits, Wayne State College will accept up to 66 credit hours from Northeast to apply to a bachelor of science degree in technology.
Enrollment in this program is limited and is based on the date of application.
