The Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship supports students pursuing qualified programs of study (see list below) leading to high-skill, high-demand and high wage careers.
Scott Pathway Scholars will engage in an educational experience that integrates both curricular and co-curricular learning.
Scholarship recipients receive:
- Full coverage of tuition, fees, housing and meal costs for up to four consecutive semesters
- Expert guidance from college to career
- A dedicated living-learning environment with a cohort of peers
- Career and leadership development opportunities
- Specialized student success programming, including a summer bridge program
- Access to paid internships and sponsorships
- Job placement assistance
- Possible additional funding for books and tools

Scott Pathway Scholarship Requirements
- Live on the Norfolk campus in a dedicated living-learning environment
- Enroll in classes at the Norfolk campus
- Maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.0
- Register for 12 or more credit hours per semester
- Attend career development activities
- Meet regularly with the Scott Pathway staff
- Participate in a paid sponsorship, internship, apprenticeship, or employment in a program-related field
- Citizenship or permanent legal residence is required for applicants
Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated career interest and program alignment, proven resiliency and work ethic, and financial need as determined by the FAFSA. However, financial need is a preference, not a requirement.
The Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship is intended for recent high school/home school/GED graduates pursuing an approved program of study at Northeast Community College in the fall.
