    Dickau named 2019 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar

    JACKSON, MS – A Northeast Community College student has earned national recognition. Preston Dickau, Atkinson, has been named a 2019 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar and will receive $1,250 in scholarship funding.

    1,100 students participate in scholastic contest & quiz bowl

    by jamesc  3/21/2019 11:58:16 AM --  NORFOLK, NE – Wayne Community Schools won the 2019 Class C High School Scholastic Contest hosted by Northeast Community College on Wednesday in Norfolk. Wakefield Community School was second and Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington placed third. In the Class D contest, Wausa Public School claimed first-place honors. Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools was second followed by a tie for third between Plainview High School and Rock County High School.

    Evacuation order lifted; Northeast students allowed to leave area shelter

Twenty-four hours after approximately 545 students had to abandon their home on the Norfolk campus due to a flood threat, they have been allowed to return.

    Merits of medical marijuana discussed at Northeast forum

    NORFOLK, NE – State Sen. Anna Wishart of Lincoln has introduced a bill in the Nebraska Legislature to legalize the dispensing of medical marijuana. She said she did so after she was repeatedly approached by people who said they or had family members or friends with medical conditions who indicated they have benefitted in having access to marijuana in medical form.

    NORFOLK, NE – A Missouri poet will be featured during the next Visiting Writers Series at Northeast Community College. William Trowbridge will read from his work on Wednesday, March 20, at 4 p.m., in the College Welcome Center, Room 1108-B, on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.

    Northeast ag class teaches "safety is everybody's job"

    Agriculture is the most dangerous industry in the nation, according to the National Safety Council. Fatality and serious injury rates run high. Human error is a factor, as well as the abundant workplace hazards – from cantankerous cows to toxic chemicals to underground manure pits and overhead power lines. Consequences may include drowning, electrocution, suffocation, loss of limbs and pulmonary diseases.
