NORFOLK, NE – One way to learn about something is to explore what it has to offer. That is exactly what area high school students had the opportunity to do recently at Northeast Community College.

Approximately 130 prospective students from 31 high schools, in addition to a number of parents and school counselors, attended the College’s Explore Northeast event, which allows all of them to see what it is like to attend college.

“During this day, prospective students got an inside look at college life including a student panel, tours of campus, and a program and services fair in our College Welcome Center,” said Brad Ranslem, director of recruitment. “We hosted prospective students who had interests in specific program areas and others who explored multiple programs. A number of people across campus took time to make our guests feel welcome and answer all of their questions.”

Students also had the option to visit specific program faculty members.

Ranslem said, “We work hard to ensure our prospective students have the best campus experience as possible!”

Prospective students, parents and high school counselors from the following high schools attended the Explore Northeast event: Ainsworth, Archbishop Bergan (Omaha), Blair, Boone Central, Cedar Bluffs, Centennial, Central City, Crofton, Doniphan-Trumbull, Douglas County West, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Fremont, Grand Island Northwest, Loomis, Lutheran High Northeast, Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Newman Grove, Norfolk Catholic, Norfolk Senior High, O'Neill, Pierce, Ponca, Shelby-Rising City, Stanton, Tekamah-Herman, Verdigre, Wahoo, Wayne, West Point-Beemer, and Wisner Pilger.
