The event, sponsored by the Northeast Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter and the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce Cadets, will be held on Monday, May 6, at 6 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center, Suites F & G on the Norfolk Campus.

Two community members will speak at the event.

Suzie Leffers, director of public relations for the Orphan Grain Train, will present information regarding the flood and how the organization has contributed to the relief. In addition, Madison County Commissioner Troy Uhlir will speak on the impact floodwater have had on county roads.

“The event is part of the joint effort of two Northeast Community College clubs joining forces for the #NorfolkCares campaign,” said Hunter Bergman, Neligh, who is a member of PBL and the Chamber Cadets. “The sole purpose of this is to demonstrate why it is important to be involved in the community through service and volunteering. Part of this involves posting on social media with the hashtag #NorfolkCares to highlight how businesses and members contribute to the community.”

The student groups will also hold a fundraiser by selling t-shirts, which can be seen on the Northeast PBL Facebook page. Also, businesses may sponsor the event for $50, which includes their name on the back of each t-shirt.

Northeast PBL is an organization dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders by preparing members for careers in business and business-related fields. The Chamber of Commerce Cadets is a club on campus that's sole mission is to bridge the gap between present and future professionals.
