AMES, IA – Two members of the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team have been recognized by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) for their performance during the 2017-18 season.

Players who demonstrated excellence on the court this season received All-Region honors that were voted on by the men’s coaches within the ICCAC. Freshman forward Steve Wooten, Madison, WI, of Northeast was among five players named to the Division I Second Team.

Wooten averaged 19.8 points per game with a 54.8-percent field goal percentage for the 2017-18 season. He also scored 41 points in a single regular season game against Iowa Western.

“Steve had a great freshman year for us,” said Dan Anderson, Northeast men’s basketball coach. “He already has schools calling him. We expect Steve to have a good year next year for the Hawks. He has the whole package. He can play inside or outside and is also a good rebounder.”

Sophomore forward Melkisedek Moreaux, Hamburg, Germany, earned an Honorable Mention - All Region recognition.

During the 2017-18 season, Moreaux averaged 14.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He had a 48.1-percent field goal percentage and 66.4-percent free throw average.

“We will really miss Melki,” Anderson said. “He has been a great player for us on and off the court, and we will always want to recruit more players like him.”
