Current non-credit healthcare classes currently in-session will be delivered in online or small group formats. Additional credit and non-credit classes, many that are also healthcare-related, are scheduled to continue at the request of area healthcare providers.

Heather Claussen, director allied health at Northeast, said students are still being allowed to enroll in particular classes such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)-Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Basic Life Support that will run through the middle of May.

“I have cancelled some of face-to-face classes through mid-April that cannot be delivered online. However, there are other non-credit health-related classes that are offered off-campus at area hospitals which provide their own instructor. These classes are essential to the continual operation of these facilities.”

The Northeast Center for Enterprise, which provides customized training and development tailored to fit the needs of each client, has postposed many current and future face-to-face classes. Northeast trainers are able to offer virtual training via Zoom or other web-conferencing tools to assist with business continuity and deliver professional development through the remainder of the spring. In addition, over 300 online classes are available for personal or professional development at all times.

The Northeast Adult Education Department continues to work on developing remote learning opportunities. Adult Education students are encouraged to reach out to their instructors or the Adult Education office in Norfolk at (402) 844-7253 or email to adulteducation@northeast.edu for guidance on how to proceed on learning opportunities until face-to-face classes resume.

In addition, all hobby and recreation classes at the main campus in Norfolk, extended campuses in O’Neill, South Sioux City, and West Point, and regional offices in Ainsworth and Hartington are cancelled through mid-May.
