Steve Anderson, Concord, shared an update on the search process during a meeting of the board Thursday in Norfolk. He said college faculty members, staff and students, and members of the public have provided excellent information to assist the board over the past two months.

“The forums held in June here on campus and livestreamed to our extended campuses and regional offices went well. In addition, the accompanying online survey has assisted the board in identifying key characteristics and traits that we believe are important for our next president.”

The characteristics and traits identified include many facets related to leadership and communication, vision and planning, and meeting the needs of the service area and community.

The Northeast board and a Presidential Search Advisory Committee, which is made up of members of college faculty, staff and administration, is working with Pauly Group, of Springfield, IL, on advertising the position and recruiting candidates to apply. Further information on the search can be found on the college’s website, www.northeast.edu.

Anderson said the deadline for applicants is August 26th.

“From there, the search advisory committee will review the applicant pool and then identify and interview semifinalists. Finalists will be named with on-campus interviews scheduled for late September and early October,” he said. “I want to invite and encourage you to attend the forums that will be held when our finalists will be here on the Norfolk campus.”

Anderson said the board is hoping to select a new president this fall with the successful candidate starting in January 2020.

The new president will succeed Dr. Michael Chipps, who retired in May.
