NORFOLK, NE – The Northeast Community College Board of Governors is beginning a national search for the institution’s next president.
The board has secured the Pauly Group, a Springfield, IL, organization that conducts presidential and senior administrative searches at the community college and technical college level. Pauly Group has been providing community and technical colleges with candidates for more than 25 years. Angela Provart, president, is personally involved with every search the firm conducts and works closely with her team of nine consultants and the college throughout the process.
Steve Anderson, Northeast board chairperson, said the board and an advisory committee will work with Pauly Group to conduct a national search.
“The Board of Governors recognizes the key leadership role of the college president in engaging with our various constituency groups. Therefore, we are seeking feedback on the characteristics that demonstrate that an individual has the necessary qualities, expertise and vision that reflects Northeast’s commitment to student success and the region it serves.”
Anderson said the board will establish time in conjunction with its next monthly meeting to hear from various stakeholders and constituents to determine what they feel are important attributes for Northeast’s next president. This includes meetings with faculty and staff followed by a community forum conducted by Pauly Group representatives.
“I encourage members of the public to attend the open forum in order to give us their collective opinion in what they desire in the next leader of the college. This is a great opportunity for the board to hear from our constituents as well as faculty and staff as we move forward in the search process.”
The community forum will be held Thursday, June 13, from 5-6 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center on Northeast’s Norfolk campus. In addition, Northeast’s three extended campuses in O’Neill, South Sioux City and West Point and its two regional offices in Ainsworth and Hartington will host live viewing sites so the public may participate in the forum from those locations.
The O’Neill extended campus is located at 505 E. Highway 20, and the South Sioux City extended campus is at 1001 College Way. The forum may be viewed in West Point in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center at 200 W. Washington St. The Ainsworth office is located in the ESU #17 Training Center at 1292 E. 4th St. (E. Highway 20). The forum in Hartington may be viewed at Hartington-Newcastle Schools at 501 S. Broadway Ave.
For those unable to attend the forum, a brief online survey will be available from June 14-June 28.
“We will continue posting frequent updates of the search process on the Northeast website,” Anderson said. “We look forward to receiving feedback as we undertake this most important endeavor.”
In order to accommodate the schedule on June 13, the start time of the board’s regular monthly meeting will be held one-hour later at 4 p.m., in Room 1108-B in the College Welcome Center on the Norfolk campus.
Dr. Michael Chipps retired as president of Northeast Community College on May 31, after seven-years in that position.
