NORFOLK, NE – Two Northeast Community College students have been recognized for their work on a College theatrical production at a regional theatre festival.
Cully Cerv, of Clarkson, received a “Commendation for Achievement in Scenic Design” and Tyler Story, of Wausa, received a “Commendation for Achievement in Sound Design” at the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) held recently in Sioux Falls.
Both were acknowledged for their work on the Northeast Players production of “All in the Timing,” by David Ives. The production featured six different interconnected one act plays that all focused on human relationships.
Cerv, who served as scenic designer and Story, who served as sound designer, worked with others on the production team to ensure that each portion of the design worked toward coherent portrayals of six different stories.
Roger L. Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, began the theatre festival in 1969. KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theatre in the United States. The event has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
