Visiting Speaker Series continues at Northeast in South Sioux City

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE – The Visiting Speaker Series at Northeast Community College in South Sioux City continues with two additional speakers scheduled.

Brooke McBride, executive director at Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School (STARS), will speak on Friday, April 26, from 1-2:30 in Room 126 at the Northeast Community College South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way. Steve Shadle, counselor, will speak on Friday, May 3, at the same time and location. Refreshments will be provided.

McBride has served as executive director of STARS since 2017. She is certified to instruct therapeutic riding sessions and facilitate equine assisted therapies. She began as a STARS volunteer in 2015 and quickly became an instructor. She grew up in Nebraska with cattle and horses, and now lives outside Sioux City, IA, on an acreage with her family and pets.

Shadle counseled, coached and taught in the South Sioux City Schools for 36 years. He also served as a trainer for the Nebraska Suicide Prevention Project and has presented at a variety of educational, suicide prevention and coaching workshop. Shadle will present on a film by Dr. Paula Caplan that explores the issues and challenges a community faces in helping veterans and their loved ones.

The Visiting Speaker Series is part of TGIF (Trending Topics, Great Gatherings, Insightful Information, Friday Fun) at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus. It is designed for the general public and has hosted other speakers from diverse backgrounds throughout the academic year.
