Northeast's Visiting Writers series continues with Harrison and Homer

NORFOLK, NE – The Visiting Writers Series at Northeast Community College will host two additional writers next month. Neil Harrison, Norfolk, and Art Homer, Peru, will present on Wednesday, February 13, at 4 p.m. at the series’ new location in the College Welcome Center, Room 1108B, on Northeast’s Norfolk campus.

Harrison’s poetry publications include a chapbook, Story (Logan House Press, 1995 and 1996), and several collections, including In a River of Wind (Bridge Burner’s Publishing, 2000), Into the River Canyon at Dusk (Lone Willow Press, 2005), Back in the Animal Kingdom (Pinyon Publishing, 2011), and Where the Waters Take You (Pinyon Publishing, 2018). His fiction has appeared most recently in Pinyon Review. He formerly coordinated the Visiting Writers Series and taught English and Creative writing at Northeast Community College.

A poet and nonfiction writer, Homer was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks and has also lived in northern California and Oregon. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing of poetry from the University of Montana, and a certificate of competency in guitar studies from the Berklee College of Music. His awards and honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in creative nonfiction, Nebraska Arts Council Fellowships for poetry and nonfiction, and a Regents professorship in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Writer’s Workshop, where he is also Professor Emeritus. He is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently Blind Unclew Night, as well as a memoir, The Drownt Boy, and a number of poems, essays, and commentaries in journals and magazines.
