Northeast in South Sioux City to host suicide prevention event

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE - The Northeast Community College South Sioux City extended campus will host an informational session soon on how individuals can save lives from suicide. The SuicideTALK session will be held Monday, October 22, from 4-6 p.m. at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way.

The training session invites participants to become more aware of suicide prevention opportunities in their community while openly discussing the stigma surrounding suicide. Session attendees will learn how suicide is an often-misunderstood and serious community health problem; how personal and community beliefs about suicide affect stigma and safety; how individuals can get involved in life protection, preservation and promotion activities in the community; and how to take the first steps toward suicide prevention.

No prior training or experience is required.

SuicideTALK is sponsored by LivingWorks education, a suicide intervention training company that trains community helpers of all kinds to work in an intervention context.

SuicideTALK is free, although registration is required. To register or for more information, call (402) 841-3834 or email donna68701@yahoo.com
