Northeast baseball ends regular season with losses to DMACC

BOONE, IA - The Northeast Community College baseball team closed regular season play here on Saturday, falling to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in a doubleheader. The Hawks dropped both games, 7-5 and 14-4.

In game one, Donovan Warren went 1-4 with one run. Drew Smith finished 2-4 with two RBIs, while Brennen Bales was 1-4 with one run; Tanner Hunt, 1-2 with one run; and Bryce Walker, 2-3 with one RBI. Smith and Walker had two doubles each. Alex Fetters was the losing pitcher.

In game two, Hunt led the Hawks, going 2-2 with one run, one home run and three RBIs. Smith was 1-2 with one run; and Walker, 1-3. Warren and Jackson Tingwald both finished 1-2. Joe Jaramillo took the loss.

Northeast ends regular season play 17-36-1 overall and 6-22 in conference.

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Region XI Division II baseball tournament will be held Wednesday, May 9, through Monday, May 14, in Clinton, IA. The seventh seeded Hawks are set to face #8  Iowa Lakes Community College (17-33 overall, 5-23 in conference) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to play #2 North Iowa Area Community College (34-18-1 overall, 20-7-1 in conference) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
