Northeast baseball plays inaugural games, splits doubleheader

HESSTON, KS - In their first-ever games, the Northeast Community College baseball team split a doubleheader with Hesston College here yesterday. The Hawks prevailed in the first game, 12-10, and dropped the second, 9-8.

In game one, Lane Koetter was the winning pitcher and Cale Hlavac earned the save. Christian Dumont went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Drew Smith was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and one RBI.

Game two saw Dominique Sanders going 1-for-3 with one run and two RBIs. Colin King finished 1-for-2 with a double and RBI.

The Hawks will play the Larks in Hesston again today in a doubleheader set to start at 3 p.m.
