Northeast men finish 0-2 at Iowa Central Classic

FORT DODGE, IA – The Northeast Community College men struggled at the Iowa Central Classic in Fort Dodge, IA, dropping two contests in as many days.

On Saturday, the Hawks fell to the host team 74-71. Northeast bounced back and played well against Iowa Central, a team that handed it a tough loss early in the season. However, a late three-pointer in Saturday’s game by Tray Croft put the Tritons up with under a minute to play and went on to take the victory.

Steve Wooten led the Hawks with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jaquan Sanders added 11 points off the bench. Jeremiah Codden and Allen Anderson chipped in 10 points each.

On Friday, the Hawks couldn't overcome a large first half deficit, and was held off by North Iowa Area Community College 82-60.

Melkisedek Moreaux lead Northeast with 16 points and six boards. Wooten added 15 of his own points and six boards. Branden Villalpando chipped in eight points and four rebounds.

The Hawks (7-6) will be back in action on Tuesday, when it plays host to North Dakota State College of Science at 7 p.m., in the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.
