Holiday concert planned at Northeast

by amandab  11/21/2017 8:56:28 AM --  NORFOLK, NE - The music department at Northeast Community College invites everyone to get in the holiday spirit with a concert to be held in December. The Northeast Community College Holiday Concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Sunday, December 3, at 2 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Norfolk campus.

The college/community concert band and concert choir will take the stage as well as Ebony & Crimson, Northeast’s men’s and women’s audition ensemble.

“Sleigh Ride” and some selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” will be performed. The concert will end with a medley of Christmas carols performed by the choir and band with audience participation encouraged.

The college/community concert band is led by Kevin McLouth, instrumental music instructor/director of instrumental activities.

Northeast students who are members of the college/community concert band include Nathan Bilyeu, Battle Creek; Ryan Colsden, Stanton; Corbin Dean, O’Neill; Shelbi Furgerson, Elmwood; Blake Heithoff, Neligh; Annika Johansen, Norfolk; Rhyan Kotrous, Verdigre; Michelle Krula, Rogers; Connor Lemke-Elznic, Winside; Jada Logan, Lamar, CO; Sarah Lutjens, Platte Center; Jacob Mann, Winside; Brittany McConnell, Neligh; Zach Morris, Winside; Jerimy Placke, Palmer; Madisen Randa, Verdigre; Kala Rast, Newman Grove; Seth Rivest, Syracuse, NY; and Benjamin Viergutz, Norfolk.

Dr. Michael Patch, vocal music instructor and director of choral activities, is the director of the concert choir and Ebony & Crimson. Margaret Schultz is the accompanist.

Members of the concert choir include all Ebony & Crimson members as well as Erika Burritt, Osceola; Catherine Cary, Norfolk; Madison Morten, Hartington; Jacob Nelson Gothier, Fordyce; Katherine Perrigan, Pierce; Alexander Retzlaff, Pierce; Cassandra RInkel, Pierce; and Christy Thompson, Petersburg.
