Northeast men win season opener over York JV

by jamesc  11/2/2017 9:12:29 AM --  YORK, NE – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a win on the road over the York Junior Varsity, 116-63.

The Hawks had seven players score in double figures. Steve Wooten lead the way with 23 points; Julius Sakinis netted 17 points; Melkisedek Moreaux and Moses Byekwaso contributed 14 each; Jeremiah Coddon finished with 13 points; Jaquan Sanders 12; and Allen Anderson had 11. Wooten pulled down 11 rebounds while Moreaux has 10.

Coach Dan Anderson was pleased with the win.

“The guys shared the ball, took care of the ball and played hard. I also felt we shot the ball well.”

The Hawks will be in action on Friday as it faces the host team in the North Dakota State College of Science Classic in Wahpeton, ND. Game time is 3 p.m.
